This book from Hind Yugm is a Hindi medium (हिन्दी माध्यम) book on the celebrated Urdu poet Jaun Elia (1931–2002), edited by Muntazir Ferozabadi, prepared for readers of Urdu-Hindi poetry, ghazal and mushaira audiences, and students of Urdu and Hindi literature. The book brings together more than a hundred of Jaun Elia's ghazals, nazms and poems along with short accounts from his life, his relationships with his friends, and the way he worked — so that the reader meets the poetry and the man who wrote it in the same volume. Jaun Elia was born in Amroha in Uttar Pradesh and later lived in Karachi, and his verse is known for its rebellion, philosophy, heartbreak and self-directed irony, written in a manner that carries drama, exasperation and a refusal to be bound by settled convention. His subjects run well beyond love and politics into many other aspects of life, and the poems use a good deal of symbolism and a free style; the Urdu vocabulary can be demanding but adds to the beauty of the verse. The entire text is printed in the Devanagari script (देवनागरी लिपि), so that a reader who does not know the Urdu script can read this poetry directly. All content in this book is presented in the Hindi language and Devanagari script.
